The Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) has launched a consultation to help create and prioritize WMF strategy beginning July 2016 and for the 12 to 24 months thereafter. This consultation will be open, on Meta, from 18 January to 26 February, after which the Foundation will also use these ideas to help inform its Annual Plan. (More on our timeline can be found on that Meta page.)

Your input is welcome (and greatly desired) at the Meta discussion, 2016 Strategy/Community consultation.

Apologies for English, where this is posted on a non-English project. We thought it was more important to get the consultation translated as much as possible, and good headway has been made there in some languages. There is still much to do, however! We created m:2016 Strategy/Translations to try to help coordinate what needs translation and what progress is being made. :)

吳氏石頭記增刪試評本（葵酉本石頭記） 的發布者是中國大陸人，從一開始就沒有公佈 正體中文版本的 紅樓夢，現在公佈的是後28回過錄本的影印資料，是簡體中文的，真本原文其家人打算永久私人收藏， 要不要先把簡體的版本複製過來到後面，以後有了原文 再重新替換。2016年4月21日 (四) 20：42 (UTC)

為了忠實還原原文，中文維基文庫中的古籍內容不應該轉換為簡體中文。有一部分人應該知道「簡繁一對多」的情況，機器自動簡繁轉換會出現錯誤的，會與古籍原文不符的（即篡改古籍原文了）。各位怎麼看？-- By LNDDYL.（留言） 2015年9月20日 (日) 04:48 (UTC)[回复]

  支持，據我所知，中文維基文庫目前的政策是用原文字體，即是古籍原文是繁體就要用繁體。可是，早期有些熱心的簡體用戶，把簡體的來源，用機器轉換成繁體，然後大規模地（可能用了機器人）錄入文庫，之不過他們所用的轉換規則流於表面，只是單字轉換，不能應付「簡繁一對多」的情況。我也留意到這個問題好一段時間，可惜由於古文的特性以單字詞居多，只能逐頁修改，進度緩慢，又這裏社群太小，沒有人關注，以致多年來問題依舊。我有記下一部分我所知道的問題，放在自己的用戶頁，如果有時間可以一起去修改。--Quest for Truth（讨论） 2015年9月21日 (一) 09:54 (UTC)[回复]

@LNDDYL：可能我之前誤解了你的意思。其實我自己一早察覺維基文庫的古籍不適宜轉換，加上正如我前述的一些歷史遺留的問題，所以我需要看清楚原始碼是否出錯，所以我很久以前已經關掉維基文庫的繁簡轉換，即預設為「不轉換」。我不知道技術上可否弄一個模板，指明該頁已經全用繁體，叫系統無需「繁化」，不過如果要用簡體顯示的話，就要簡化。--Quest for Truth（讨论） 2015年9月21日 (一) 11:38 (UTC)[回复]

(！)意見：古籍本身，可以认为全是繁体，贡献者也应当提供“繁体”原文，这一点毫无疑问。因此，对于古籍文献，不应该存在简→繁的问题，应该只有繁→简之转换。技术上，应当设法在中文古籍页面，关闭其他转换模式，只有原文（“繁体”）和简体（经转换）两种版本。我觉得，如果NOCC技术上能实现，那这个方案也能实现吧？这并不复杂吧，就是注意一下乾坤之类的词就行了。-- SzMithrandir（讨论） 2016年1月22日 (五) 11:27 (UTC)[回复]

维基媒体基金会即将测试其位于达拉斯的最新的数据中心。 该新系统可确保维基系列计划在意外状况发生后仍然可以保持在线。 为确保一切正常，维基媒体技术部门计划进行测试，保证系统能够可靠地在两个数据中心之间切换。测试中需要多个团队做好准备，修复任何问题。

4月19日（周二）所有流量将被切换至新数据中心，
4月21日（周四）切换回主数据中心。

因MediaWiki系统限制，切换期间将短期无法进行编辑。 请谅解因此带来的不便，我们努力将其影响降到最小。

期间您可以阅读但暂时无法编辑所有的维基。

  • 您将于4月19日（周二）和4月21日（周四）两天14:00 UTC (16:00 CEST, 10:00 EDT, 07:00 PDT)开始有约15~30分钟的时间无法编辑。

A new "Welcome" message 编辑

Hello everyone. Apologies for using English on this page. 请帮助翻译至您的语言. 谢谢您！

This is a heads-up about a change which was announced in Tech News: Add the "welcome" dialog (with button to switch) to the wikitext editor.

In a nutshell, this will soon provide a one-time "Welcome" message in the wikitext editor which explains that anyone can edit, and every improvement helps. The user can then start editing in the wikitext editor right away, or switch to the visual editor. This is the equivalent of an already existing welcome message for visual editor users, which suggests the option to switch to the wikitext editor. If you have already seen this dialog in the visual editor, you will not see the new one in the wikitext editor. It won't say "Wikipedia" here ;)

  • The current site-wide configuration of the visual editor stays the same.
    • Nothing changes permanently for users who chose to hide the visual editor in their Preferences, or for wikis where it's still a Beta Feature, or for wikis where certain groups of users don't get the visual editor tab, etc.
    • This wiki features a Single Edit Tab system; if you're not sure you know or remember how that works, you can read the guide (which details, among other things, how to switch between editors from the buttons on the toolbar); you can change your editing settings at any time, by the way.
    • There is a slight chance that you see a few more questions than usual about the visual editor. Please refer people to the documentation or to the feedback page, and feel free to ping me if you have questions too! I had also written a very quick intro to the visual editor, in case anyone is interested.
  • Finally, I want to acknowledge that, while not everyone will see that dialog, many of you will; if you're reading this you are likely not the intended recipients of that dialog, so you may be confused or annoyed by it—and if this is the case, I'm truly sorry about that. Please feel free to cross-post this message at other venues on this wiki, if you think it will avoid that other users feel caught by surprise by this change.

缺字處理議題：引進動態組字處理技術 编辑

Hi大家好，敝人跟夥伴目前正在處理吳守禮紙本的國臺對照活用辭典維基化作業。其中遇到了大量的漢字缺字課題。好在現在動態組字技術成熟了，也已經有開放原碼的動態組字引擎，除了敝專案以外，這個技術一樣可以造福所有的古籍上傳課題（unicode不管有沒有編碼的漢字都可以呈現了），於是想要引進這個技術。

敝人目前構想是讓維基文庫新增"IDS"這個新標籤還有準備這個組字引擎的server。在維基文庫裡用IDS標籤夾住一個缺字描述，然後系統就可以去動態組字server把作好的字形圖抓回來顯示，以後就不再需要用惱人的「手工圖片法」，而是系統自動化來解決缺字問題了。 詳細請移駕敝人的用戶頁User:Shoichi，裡面有測試畫面以及測試的方法使用教學，目前我把server架在基金會的測試server上，大家可以實際測試動態組字的效果。

  • What is Affiliations Committee and how ESEA is related with it? ESEA editors interviewed one of the members Ting Chen on Wikimedia Conference 2016.
  • Wikimedia Indonesia brings the news on Sundanese Wikipedia community held a Wikipedia writing competition, and one participant who was only 12 years old managed to edit 118 articles using a 4-inch smartphone, using source editor!
  • Wikimedia Taiwan invites parliament members to take open licensed photo, 38 out of 113 congresspeople have participated in this event.
  • Wikimedians in Thailand organised two meetups in March 2016 at Mahidol University International College. They gathered around 30 new editors, including a visually impaired student.
  • One of Wikimedia Hong Kong members was invited to give a presentation about building up an Arts database in Asia on Wikipedia, and the Ministry of Culture in Taiwan expressed their interest to cooperate with us in order to establish the database.

此次更改将可能在2016年8月30日前后发生。 当发生时，此次更改将通知于技术新闻中。

如果您能流利使用英语以外的语言，请在translatewiki.net检查「发布页面」和「发布更改」的翻译状态。

此次更改的主要原因是避免新编辑者产生混淆。 重复的对新编辑者的用户研究显示，一些新编辑者相信「我接受上述方针指引并提交编辑」会以其账户保存新页面的私人拷贝，而不是在网络上永久发布其更改。 对于这部分用户界面保持清晰是很重要的，因为一旦发布，就很难移除公开信息。 我们相信由「我接受上述方针指引并提交编辑」按钮导致的混淆增加了有经验的编辑者的工作量，他们不得不清理人们无意中透露的信息，并将其报告给管理人员和监管员来屏蔽它。 澄清什么按钮将减少此问题。

中文维基文库内容页面数超过15万 编辑

大量导入四库全书使得内容页面数量爆发性增长。翻Special:Log/import的结果是，15万应该是UTC昨天（10月4日）突破的；虽然昨天19点多（UTC）我看的还是13万多。现在的数字是171,994，很快就会破20万吧。 --达师 - 334 - 554 2016年10月5日 (三) 11:55 (UTC)[回复]

刚刚从[4]下载了29756页内容，已经上传。不知道是否全部属于公有领域？如果可以导入维基文库，有如下问题需要讨论：

版式
  • 对于有目录的页面[5]，使用mediawiki的目录还是原本的目录？
  • 对标题进行居中还是使用mediawiki默认的版式？

  • 是否要保留？
已存在的页面

是否应该覆盖？

We are having a problem with attackers taking over wiki accounts with privileged user rights (for example, admins, bureaucrats, oversighters, checkusers). It appears that this may be because of weak or reused passwords.

Community members are working along with members of multiple teams at the Wikimedia Foundation to address this issue.

In the meantime, we ask that everyone takes a look at the passwords they have chosen for their wiki accounts. If you know that you've chosen a weak password, or if you've chosen a password that you are using somewhere else, please change those passwords.

New way to edit wikitext 编辑

Summary: There's a new opt-in Beta Feature of a wikitext mode for the visual editor. Please go try it out.


We in the Wikimedia Foundation's Editing department are responsible for making editing better for all our editors, new and experienced alike. We've been slowly improving the visual editor based on feedback, user tests, and feature requests. However, that doesn't work for all our user needs: whether you need to edit a wikitext talk page, create a template, or fix some broken reference syntax, sometimes you need to use wikitext, and many experienced editors prefer it.

Consequently, we've planned a "wikitext mode" for the visual editor for a long time. It provides as much of the visual editor's features as possible, for those times that you need or want wikitext. It has the same user interface as the visual editor, including the same toolbar across the top with the same buttons. It provides access to the citoid service for formatting citations, integrated search options for inserting images, and the ability to add new templates in a simple dialog. Like in the visual editor, if you paste in formatted text copied from another page, then formatting (such as bolding) will automatically be converted into wikitext.

All wikis now have access to this mode as a Beta Feature. When enabled, it replaces your existing wikitext editor everywhere. If you don't like it, you can reverse this at any time by turning off the Beta Feature in your preferences. We don't want to surprise anyone, so it's strictly an opt-in-only Beta Feature. It won't switch on automatically for anyone, even if you have previously checked the box to "自动启用大部分测试功能".

The new wikitext edit mode is based on the visual editor, so it requires JavaScript (as does the current wikitext editor). It doesn't work with gadgets that have only been designed for the older one (and vice versa), so some users will miss gadgets they find important. We're happy to work with gadget authors to help them update their code to work with both editors. We're not planning to get rid of the current main wikitext editor on desktop in the foreseeable future. We're also not going to remove the existing ability to edit plain wikitext without JavaScript. Finally, though it should go without saying, if you prefer to continue using the current wikitext editor, then you may so do.

This is an early version, and we'd love to know what you think so we can make it better. Please leave feedback about the new mode on the feedback page. You may write comments in any language. Thank you.
